Canon notes: Upon the events of the Marsiva and the end of the fleet, Lance had to come face to face with one of his biggest fears: going home for good, and forever losing everything he'd become and gained. Especially his relationship with Keith, which he was terrified to lose. The two agreed to stay for a little while longer, though Lance knew the clock was ticking, and it hurt every moment to think of it. But before he could pull himself out of denial enough to truly discuss it with Keith, they found themselves in a new place.

History: As Lance is in essentially every episode of the series, his canon history can be found here in the episode summaries. Originally, he'd shown up in the fleet post season 2, surprised and delighted to see Shiro and Keith already there. Soon into his stay, he experienced his first calibrations. Being exposed to each others' minds, calibrations were a bonding moment unlike any other, leading Lance to learn about and connect deeper with his teammates than he might have in canon for quite some time. This especially affected his relationship with Keith. While still very much riding the rivalry label he'd stuck on them, and having been working to get over his initial antagonistic feelings towards them, having that exposed connection fast forwarded their understanding of each other somewhat, and it wasn't long before Lance got over himself and they became true friends. Over time, said friendship grew and grew, and it was during dancing with Keith at Luna and Noctis' wedding that he realized "oh shit, I think I might have a crush". This culminated right before Christmas, where Lance threw all caution to the wind and kissed him underneath the mistletoe. And what do you know, Keith liked him to. Ever since then, the two have been dating and inseparable.
Throughout his time at the fleet, he'd gone home and back a few times. His stints back home hadn't often been happy ones for him, especially after season 5 and 6, where he felt disconnected from the team, lonely, with insecurities mounting more and more. Returning to the fleet was basically a relief each time, because there, he felt wanted. He had his relationship with Keith and other friends—especially Biffy, who Lance often went to in times of need. Each time, he'd work to build up his self confidence, but upon returning home then subsequently coming back, it'd often been beaten down again.
Because of that feeling of insecurity and thinking himself not good enough, Lance threw himself into a lot of training aboard the fleet. Sword lessons with Ulaz, hand to hand with Kirk, workouts and spars with Keith and Shiro, and even idol lessons with Kaname, Lance rarely let himself rest in his attempts to be better. To be useful. He didn't want to be seen as the weak link anymore, as that was what he believed he really was when it came to Voltron.
By the time he'd returned from season 7, he was finally in better spirits, having helped save Earth. Not to say his insecurities were all gone, of course. That will still take time. The rest of the details about his end-game history are up in canon notes.
Personality: Much like in canon, Lance is incredibly friendly to everyone he meets, trusting to a fault, caring, and willing to put anyone else's needs above his own. He has a tendency to be self sacrificial, even dying once because of it in canon, and that hasn't changed. He's become more assertive throughout his time in the fleet, willing to take charge when needed. It's more obvious just how hard he's working to better himself, and how eager he is to prove himself. Lance is still very outgoing and kind of Extra, but really, he's a good kid. Well. Adult, now. Though he's obviously matured over time, Lance is always gonna Lance, and be his super friendly, goofy self.
Pets: Lance has three! Oliver, the most adorable otter in the whole wide universe. Kaltenecker, a full grown cow shrunk to the size of a calf. Blue, a...blue fish.
Abilities: Lance is an excellent sharpshooter and pilot, and at this point has above average swordfighting skills. Other than that, he's just a normal human.
Personal Item: He'll be bringing with him a photo album Keith gave him of their first year as a couple.
